The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have decided to go with Josh McCown as the Week 10 starter against the Atlanta Falcons instead of Mike Glennon. The benching came after a Twitter rant by Mike Glennon’s brother on Tuesday detailing how he’d lost respect for Lovie Smith. Sean Glennon quickly deleted the tweet and his account, but not before the rest of the Internet saw it.

While likely unrelated to the benching, the rant was foreshadowing on what we would later hear from Glennon himself. He confirmed that he was being benched in favor of Josh McCown on his radio show this week.

What seems to be clear is that the Bucs likely do not see Glennon as their quarterback of the future. Josh McCown hasn’t been particularly good for the Bucs either and left with a hand injury in Week 3, but is back in the saddle thanks to the poor play of the Bucs second-year quarterback. Glennon has only completed 57 percent of his passes in six games and has managed only 10 touchdowns. He’s also thrown six interceptions.

McCown likely isn’t the Bucs quarterback of the future either, but at this point the team has little left to lose and is running out of options to keep their season afloat.
