Free agent first baseman Adam LaRoche, a target for a number of MLB teams this off-season, started his off-season with a hunting trip and killed himself an awfully large animal.

There should be a good market for the services of free agent first baseman Adam LaRoche. The left-handed slugger is coming off a season in which he batted .259/.362./455 with 26 home runs and 92 RBI. That’s for later, though.

For now, LaRoche is going to enjoy his time off and do some hunting. Look no further than LaRoche’s own Twitter account for proof of that fact, and a picture of a really impressive animal to boot.

I mean, you’ve seen LaRoche’s beard. Are you at all surprised that he is on a hunting trip or that he’s good at it?

LaRoche has been consistently productive over the last three seasons. Cheap power can be hard to find for big league teams, so LaRoche might be a bargain for some team looking for answers in the middle of their lineup. The Nationals moved on from LaRoche in a move that will likely clear the way to get Ryan Zimmerman more playing time.

He won’t be back in Washington, and so eventually LaRoche will sign elsewhere. But for now, he’s going to enjoy his hunting trip and bragging about this Rocky Mountain Elk.
