The NBA legend recently joked that he wouldn’t have his players practice if he coached a team.
From Slam Magazine:
This is just perfect.
Of course, Iverson is making light of his infamous 2002 press conference in which he downplayed the significance of missing practice while a member of the Philadelphia 76ers by saying the word “practice” repeatedly.
An excerpt from the legendary press conference:
"“If I can’t practice, I can’t practice. If I’m hurt, I’m hurt. Simple as that. It’s not about that at all. But it’s easy to talk about and sum it up when you just talk about practice; we’re sitting here, and I’m supposed to be the franchise player, and we’re in here talking about practice. I mean, listen, we’re talking about practice. Not a game! Not a game! Not a game! We’re talking about practice. Not a game; not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game like it’s my last, not the game, we’re talking about practice, man. I mean, how silly is that? We’re talking about practice."
It’s certainly cool to see the NBA great still has a good sense of humor about the whole thing.
The 76ers drafted Iverson with the No. 1 pick of the 1996 NBA Draft. Iverson played 14 years in the NBA and retired with averages of 26.7 points and 6.2 assists per game.
