Jabrill Peppers came into Michigan will all the hype in the world as a 5-star recruit, however as he’s battled injuries, it hasn’t been quite the debut season that Wolverines fans had hoped for. That’s why it’s no surprise that, as he continues to struggle to get healthy, that the program has decided to shut him down for the rest of the year.
Brady Hoke announced on Wednesday that they have decided to redshirt the defensive back and kick returner for the remainder of the season, hoping that he can come back next season better than ever.
“We’re going to redshirt him for this year,” Hoke said via MLive.com. “Him and I have had a lot of different conversations, I’ve talked with his mother, doctors, trainers and everybody that should be included in the conversation.
“But he’s taking care of himself (physically). He’s been great with treatments and rehab and all those things. He’s doing a tremendous job in school right now academically and he’s excited about whenever he can get back on the field. His (health) has improved, but he’s not going to be where you’d want a guy to be who has that kind of ability (this year).”
Peppers has suffered two separate leg injuries that have severely hampered his freshman campaign that so many people believed would be dynamic for his struggling program.
Hoke did also note last week that Peppers will not transfer.
