Ahead of their huge showdown this weekend, a Michigan State linebacker noted that he believes J.T. Barrett is actually better for Ohio State under center than what they had.

The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Michigan State Spartans will clash this weekend in the biggest Big Ten game of the season. While people looked forward to this game before the season, they were unsure whether or not the Buckeyes would be able to hold their end of the bargain with J.T. Barrett replacing the injured Braxton Miller.

Yet, here we are. Barrett has improved maybe more than any quarterback in the country, and the Buckeyes find themselves firmly in the College Football Playoff race still, although a lot needs to happen still.

The vast improvement of Barrett throughout the course of the season has led some to speculate whether or not he is the better option at quarterback.

Well, Michigan State linebacker Taiwan Jones just happens to be one of these people.

“I feel like, with this offense, that Barrett works better in this offense,” Jones said Tuesday via the Detroit Free-Press. “I feel like he has a better arm, he’s a way better quarterback than Braxton, but I feel like it’s a big challenge for us, and we’re actually looking forward to it.”

This sentiment could be proven to be true. While Barrett maybe can’t get it done with his legs quite like Miller could, as he has progressed, he’s proven to be a bit of a more dangerous passing threat in the pocket.

We will see on Saturday if he could do the one thing that Miller couldn’t do last season, and that’s beat the Spartans.
