Morgan Burnett: Packers’ Safety Returning vs. Bears
By Evan Massey
Green Bay Packers‘ safety Morgan Burnett will return against the Chicago Bears after missing the New Orleans Saints‘ NFL Sunday Night Football game.
Morgan Burnett missed the Green Bay Packers’ Sunday Night Football game two weeks ago against the New Orleans Saints, but he is ready to return this coming week against the Chicago Bears. He has been a very reliable safety for the Packers this season, and has been one of their best tacklers. Needless to say, the Packers will be more than happy to welcome him back to the lineup.

One of the Packers’ biggest faults during the Saints game was their inability to make tackles in the open field. Burnett will help fix that, and is also one of the veteran leaders of the secondary. Green Bay is still considered to be one of the top teams in the NFC, but they need their defense to pick things up a bit.
Burnett made a few short comments about his status for this weeks.
From JSOnline.com:
“I’m ready to go. That’s my plan. I’m out there practicing so I’m ready to roll.”
Head coach Mike McCarthy also had some words to say about how the Packers missed Burnett last week.
“You talk about communication, you talk about who’s in command of the operation in the back end, I mean, Burnett was missed in New Orleans. And just to see him out there today, it’s different. It’s different when you have your top safety back there making your checks and communicating. Sam looks good. We have a lot of depth there. I think it’s been good that we’ve been playing everybody, I think it’s just going to make us a better defense.”
Obviously the coaching staff thinks highly of Burnett, and having him back out there on the field will help the Packers’ defense out. Green Bay has a few different injury issues, but getting their safety back will be nice.
