Included in this year’s list of semifinalists are some of the usual suspects — Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, Bryce Petty, Nick Marshall and Brett Hundley — while quarterbacks who have been putting together some incredible seasons — Dak Prescott, Trevone Boykin and Rakeem Cato — also received some acknowledgement.
Winston took home the award last season, but he will have some stiff competition if he wants to repeat.
The Big 12 and SEC lead the way with four players each on the list, while the Big Ten and Pac-12 are each represented with two signal-callers. The AAC, ACC, C-USA and Independents each have one semifinalist.
