Recent reports indicate that  Philadelphia Eagles management wasn’t sold on quarterback Nick Foles as the long-term answer even before his collarbone injury.

The Philadelphia Eagles must continue their run to the top of the NFC East without starting quarterback Nick Foles, who broke his collarbone in the team’s road win over the Houston Texans. The bigger question is whether Foles will be the guy who leads the Eagles to future division runs in years to come. If recent reports are any indication, that likely won’t be the case.

Mark Eckel at NJ.com writes that sources indicate the Eagles front office has ‘soured’ on Foles, who has thrown 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions after a sparkling debut as the starter in 2013, in which Foles threw just two interceptions in 10 starts.

“I think Howie is looking at quarterbacks,” a source told NJ.com. “He’s kind of soured on Foles, and I don’t think he’s alone. The organization isn’t sold that he’s the guy going forward.”

This may seem like hasty talk, but consider that current GM Howie Roseman didn’t draft Foles and that the team drafted Matt Barkley in the 4th round of the 2013 draft while also re-signing Michael Vick in the same offseason. They also pursued New York Jets castoff Mark Sanchez in the 2014 offseason and Sanchez will start in Foles’ absence.

“Let’s just say the way things were going, he wasn’t going to get a contract extension that’s for sure,” another source told NJ.com before Foles’ injury. “Now, if he has a big second half, that could change.”

With injury sidelining him indefinitely, Foles may not get a chance to have that big second half, which could spell the end of his days in Philadelphia.
