Every once in a while, a rumor surrounding a video game turns into reality. When the first-person mode was first brought up as part of Grand Theft Auto V on next gen systems, fans started salivating. Now, not only is first-person confirmed for GTA V, but Rockstar is making sure to show off the mode.

The Grand Theft Auto series has always featured a third person point of view, and in doing so, has left gamers to look at all of their surroundings. With the first person point of view coming to GTA V, you can expect a heightened sense of action, and an even more realistic view of the world around you.

On top of confirming that the new viewpoint would be coming to the new-generation version of GTA V, Rockstar released a trailer showing off just what to expect.

Judging from the trailer, it looks like the level of difficulty the game will have also should increase. The first person viewpoint presents new challenges and requires the gamer to continually be on top of things while exploring and venturing about GTA V.

On top of the introduction of the new point of view, Rockstar has also mentioned that a whole new set of animations has been added to the storyline of the main characters in order to highlight the new level of immersion. I would expect however, that first person viewpoints aren’t available for your late night street corner encounters.

At this point, there isn’t yet enough for me to be drawn in and pick up GTA V on a next generation console. Having played through and beaten the game once, I’m not looking for a retread. However, if you haven’t played GTA V, it’s an absolute must.
