Marcus Lattimore officially announced on Wednesday that he has decided to retire from football, given the difficulties he’s had trying to come back from a knee injury he suffered during his last season at South Carolina in 2012 playing for Steve Spurrier.
Well not that Lattimore needs something to do, Spurrier would love to have him back in Columbia in some capacity.
Steve Spurrier on Marcus Lattimore: "I'm pretty positive that the president or the A.D. or me or somebody could hire him at USC."

In his retirement announcement, Lattimore noted that he would indeed be returning to South Carolina to finish his degree. He left following his junior year, so he has a little bit left to go.
When he does go back to finish his schooling, it wouldn’t be surprising at all to see him join the coaching staff in some capacity and start what should be a successful career in the coaching profession. He might not be healthy enough to get it done on the field anymore, but the young man has the mind for the game.
