After a loss last night, the Minnesota Wild will go on the road for a few pivotal NHL matchups and they will be without Zach Parise.

More from Minnesota Wild

The Minnesota Wild are off to a strong start this season, however last night was somewhat of a deflating blow to the hockey team. Not only did the Wild fall 4-1 on home ice to the

Pittsburgh Penguins

, but they also lost one of their stars, Zach Parise, due to injury. Unfortunately, he will also miss the upcoming road trip.

After leaving the bench and heading to the locker room, the was some question as to what was wrong with the Wild’s star forward. Later in the contest, it was announced that Parise had suffered an upper body injury and would not be returning to the game.

The road trip will span three different games, and the Wild’s top point getter in Parise will not be with them. Thus far on the season, Jason Zucker has been a breakout player, leading the team with five goals scored.

For Minnesota, the loss of Parise is unfortunate considering the offensive struggles that the team has already experience. The Wild have been struggling to put the puck in the back of the net on the powerplay, and losing one of their best scorers won’t help the situation at all.

Minnesota will have to get contributions from other goal scorers on the upcoming road trip if they want to get back into the win column. After suffering injuries last week, the Wild got both Jonas Brodin and Erik Haula back on the ice.

Unfortunately for hockey fans, as is standard with the sport, an upper body injury explains next to nothing, and the extent of Parise’s injury hasn’t yet been revealed.
