Jeremy Maclin spoke to the media on Wednesday about his new quarterback, as the prepare for Sanchez’s first Eagles start against the Carolina Panthers on Monday night.
"“Mark can play, man. There’s no question about it. He’s also surrounded by a lot more talent than what he had in New York, so the sky’s the limit.”"
Sanchez looked like the fifth overall pick of the 2009 draft at times during last Sunday’s 31-21 win over the Houston Texans, throwing for 202 yards and two scores after replacing Nick Foles, who left with a collarbone injury that will keep him sidelined at least until the end of the regular season.
“The Mark Sanchez I knew when he got here was the quarterback that led (the New York Jets) to two straight AFC Championship games,” Maclin said.
Maclin was on the receiving end of Sanchez’s first pass after coming in for Foles, a 52-yard yard strike in the second quarter that was one of Maclin’s six catches on the afternoon.
Monday night will mark the first start for Sanchez since December 30, 2012, when he led the Jets to a 28-9 loss at the Buffalo Bills. He is 33-29 as a starting quarterback, yet has not won a start since defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars on December 9, 2012.
