The Los Angeles Dodgers could be looking to get rid of Carl Crawford seeing as they simply have to many outfielders.

After a season in which the Los Angeles Dodgers again failed to make it to the World Series, the team will be making moves in the offseason to better position themselves and their roster for a postseason run. One of those moves could involve trading outfielder Carl Crawford, who has underwhelmed in his time with the team.

Logically, this makes sense. The Dodgers are a team that are looking to consistently stay in the playoff hunt, which could mean getting rid of some aging talent in favor of the young talent that has begun to show it’s use.

That’s where Crawford comes in. Carl Crawford hit for a .300 average and .329 on base percentage last season, his best and first time over or at the .300 mark since 2010. That kind of year could potentially open up a pretty good trade market for the outfielder and also help the Dodgers get rid of his huge contract.

Some may be wondering why Crawford would be the trade bate. This is a simple answer seeing as the team has six outfielders and it would not make much sense to get rid of Yasiel Puig, Scott Van Slyke or Matt Kemp in favor to keep Crawford, who at this point in his career is more of just a role player than anything.

The Dodgers putting him on the trade block would be looking for that final piece to get them over the playoff hump they have hit the past few years.

Potential trade partners for the outfielder? I would say a lot of teams could benefit from Crawfords’ presence but not many will want to take the contract.
