Mario Kart 8 DLC And Amiibo Date Announced

Nintendo has already announced the Mario Kart 8 DLC but we now know it’s coming on November 13 and have been given a trailer of what to expect in the game.

Mario Kart 8 has been out since early this summer. The Nintendo Wii U has seen a significant boost in popularity thanks to the title, and well over half of Wii U owners are also Mario Kart 8 owners. If the experience has gotten a little stale, its time to hop into some DLC and new functions.

Now Nintendo has announced that the first DLC content will be made available next week on November 13. On top of that, the update allowing Amiibo compatibility will also be rolled out to gamers.

The first DLC pack slated for Mario Kart 8 will include Link, Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach, the Master Cycle, and the F-Zero Blue Falcon. There is also a host of new tracks scheduled to be a part of the DLC update.

As far as the Amiibo’s go, Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Donkey Kong, Link, Kirby, Captain Falcon, Samus, and Fox McCloud will all integrate with the game and unlock a Mii costume for your character.

At this point, we know of a second downloadable content update for the game coming out in May 2015. That DLC offering will focus around Animal Crossing.

On top of Mario Kart 8 receiving Amiibo support, Hyrule Warriors will also get the update. Connecting the Link Amiibo will give you access to the Spinner weapon from Twilight Princess. Using any of the other Super Smash Bros Amiibo’s will work as well, giving you access to various weapons in the game.

Kirby and The Rainbow Curse, which launches in February 2015, will also offer Amiibo support.

Make sure to check out the trailer for the new Mario Kart 8 DLC and let us know what you think. Happy racing!
