Chicago Blackhawks‘ Patrick Kane has the number-one most sold jersey in the NHL for October

I’m sure it surprises no one, but Patrick Kane’s jersey was the highest sold jersey on NHL.com for the month of October.

The site released the list at the start of November by the NHL, probably to remind all of us that hell hath no spending power like a lovestruck hockey fan. The list, which was topped by Kane, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, and Hawks captain Jonathan Toews, covers all the orginal six teams- and then the Stanley Cup Champions.

The top ten was rounded out by Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist (which probably got sold in equal parts to awestruck fans and swooning women, but that’s totally beside the point), then a whole slew of captains and alternates. Captains Alex Ovechkin, Claude Giroux, and Ryan Getzlaf all made the top ten, with alternate captains Patrice Bergeron, Evgeni Malkin, and Anze Kopitar finishing off the top.

The only other goalies to make the top list were Stanley Cup winning LA Kings netminder Jonathan Quick (14) and Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford (17), while the only defenseman on the list were Bruins captain Zdeno Chara, Kings’ blue-liner Drew Doughty, and St. Louis Blues d-man Alex Pietrangelo.

None of the Canadian teams made the top twenty-five, giving us reasonable assumption that Canadians don’t like to order their jerseys from NHL.com. Given how monstrous the shipping is in-country, I don’t blame them.
