The Washington Huskies have plenty of tough games on their
schedule, including match ups with the 18th-ranked
and the 19th-ranked
over the next two weeks and they’ll have to do it without one of their most highly-touted prospects.
According to Adam Jude of the Seattle Times, the Huskies have dismissed star cornerback Marcus Peters from the team. Per a source of Jude, Peters got into an argument with an assistant coach during practice Wednesday, which was far from his first altercation with the staff. Peters missed the Huskies’44-19 win over the Illinois Fighting Illini because he was suspended after getting into an altercation with a coach during their 59-52 victory over Eastern Washington a week earlier. Peters threw his gloves and helmet on the sideline after head-butting an Eastern Washington player. He also reportedly got into another spat with an assistant Saturday during their 38-23 come-from-behind victory over the Colorado Buffaloes, which is why he was not at practice Tuesday.
He becomes the ninth player suspended or dismissed since Chris Peterson left the Boise State Broncos to take over Washington and is probably the most talented. Many outlets view Peterson as a potential first round pick and his latest outburst may cost him some money in his first few NFL seasons. Peters has three interceptions and 10 passes defensed and was named to the All Pac-12 second team in 2013.
True freshman Naijiel Hale will likely see more time now, joining fellow true freshmen, Sidney Jones and free safety Budda Baker, who already starting in the Huskies’ secondary.
The Huskies and Bruins will kick-off from Husky Stadium in Seattle at 7:00 pm ET Saturday night and the game is on Fox.
