Washington Wizards head coach Randy Wittman said point guard John Wall carried the team offensively, giving Wall a lot of credit for the team’s 96-94 overtime win against the Indiana Pacers.

The Washington Wizards won ugly against the Indiana Pacers in overtime, and Wizards point guard John Wall helped light up the Pacers, scoring 31 points, and chipping in 10 assists, six rebounds and three steals, with seven points in overtime, leading to high praise from Washington head coach Randy Wittman.

“I thought John was the one guy offensively who kept us going,” Wittman said. “When things would bog down a little bit, he got us an easy basket in transition or got somebody else an easy basket. Thirty-one and 10 is not bad. Not bad.”

Wittman said rebounding was the biggest flaw for Washington, as 57 boards for the Pacers (compared to 43 for the Wizards) helped the Pacers keep the game close, despite being severely undermanned following an offseason of injuries; Paul George, David West, C.J. Watson, George Hill and Rodney Stuckey are all injured for Indiana and didn’t play.

Wall’s counterpart on the Pacers, Donald Sloan, led Indiana with 31 points, seven assists and six rebounds, and the Pacers were only able to suit up 10 players.
