The forward sustained a concussion during the teams’ game on Tuesday, November 4th. He failed to return to the ice after the team’s intermission, although at the time the team simply announced that Parise had sustained an upper-body injury.
Wild head coach Mike Yeo will not give a timetable for Parise’s return, he wants to make sure the forward has time for a full recovery. This goes hand-in-hand with the league‘s increased precautions against head injuries, and the team is unlikely to see Parise on the ice again until they are sure he is good to go.
While Parise has never missed playing time for a concussion, this isn’t his first time dealing with a head injury. He experienced a blow to the head once back playing for the New Jersey Devils, and once again during the 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs where got got rattled by a big hit from Brandon Bollig.
The team is about to embark on a multi-game road trip, heading to Ottawa to play the Senators on Thursday night and then moving on to Montreal and New Jersey before returning home to play the Buffalo Sabres next Thursday. No word on whether Parise will be able to join the team in any of those places yet.
