In Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Activision leaves Sony’s newest feature out of their game. Now they have explained why.
As Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was released earlier this week, the unfortunate news for gamers is that the title would not support the newly introduced Share Play feature. Sony has been touting the new technology since this summer’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. Now Activision is commenting on their decision.

Considering how big of a deal Share Play is for Sony, watching one of the biggest games of the year not incorporate it had to be a huge blow. However, it appears that Activision actually has a pretty solid reason for leaving the featured out of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
In a response to Game Informer, Activision said, “Delivering a great gaming experience for fans is our top priority. We’re focused on launching Advanced Warfare and ensuring that people have a great time playing it, which our fans seem to be. Share Play is a new feature that was introduced as part of the recent PS4 firmware 2.00 update. Our engineers didn’t have access to it before it launched, so we haven’t had a chance to evaluate it to see how it will impact the experience across all modes of play. Of course we wouldn’t include a feature in our game without having the chance to test it. Once we’ve fully analyzed its performance, we’ll determine how to support it going forward.”
With Sony wanting to make sure that there were no titles left without the Share Play feature, it has to be somewhat frustrating to watch such a blockbuster snub the feature. However, it does seem to reason that Activision could be open to implementing the feature in the future.
Look for Sony to push for them to do so, and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare may end up with the option at some point down the road.
Update: All three titles have been re-added to the Steam marketplace. At this point Ubisoft has not provided a comment in regards to the reasoning, but feel free to download the upcoming titles as you wish.
