The Indiana Pacers have been slammed by injuries throughout the offseason and into the regular season, and one of those injuries is point guard George Hill. He has missed the first five games of the season with a knee contusion and it doesn’t look like he will be returning to the court anytime soon.
Hill has been sitting out which has hurt the Pacers, but even worse they have had to deal with injuries to David West, C.J. Watson, Rodney Stuckey and of course Paul George. All of those injuries are to players who would be playing major roles in the rotation if they were completely healthy.
According to Pacers’ head coach Frank Vogel, Hill might not return to the Pacers until December at the current rate that he is healing.
Frank Vogel said today David West is doing light shooting but "likely not next week" and George Hill "into December before we see him"

If that does end up happening, the Pacers are going to have a very difficult time winning basketball games. Donald Sloan has done an excellent job filling in for Hill, but he isn’t able to make the same kind of impact. Having Hill on the court would be huge for the Pacers. It would improve them both on the offensive end of the court as well as defensively.
This is disappointing news for Indiana to say the very least, but it seems that they will have to deal with disappointment fairly frequently. Vogel is learning how to keep his team in games and has done an excellent job of rolling with the punches and getting the best out of his depleted roster. Hopefully Hill and West are able to get back on the court fairly soon, but until then Sloan, A.J. Price, and the rest of the Pacers’ roster will have to continue stepping up.
