Jason Pierre-Paul has questioned the hear that his New York Giants‘ have shown this year, and their chances to make the NFL playoffs are dwindling.
The New York Giants have gotten off to a 3-5 start and there are starting to be some players upset with the effort that they have been showing. One of those players is defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, who called his teammates out. New York is going to have a tough game this weekend against the Seattle Seahawks, but they have a chance to take a step forward and make a statement.

“That’s what it comes down to,” Pierre-Paul told the New York Post. “A lot of talking going on, but at the end of the day it’s all about heart, all about that individual and what he’s got. It’s definitely missing from a lot of guys. You’ve just got to have it, man. Like, in this game of football, you can tell when you look at film who’s more passionate about the game. To play this game you’ve got to have heart, and a lot of guys don’t have it. I can sit here and say we all do, but we all don’t.’’
It’s always good to have a leader step up and make these types of comments, and Pierre-Paul is hoping that it will push players to work harder and play with more energy. There is no question that the Giants are a better team than they have shown, but they just don’t seem to have much passion when they are out on the field.
Pierre-Paul has put forth quite a bit of effort this season. He has recorded 39 tackles to go along with 3.5 sacks. The Giants’ defense simply hasn’t been playing well enough, and Eli Manning hasn’t been able to get the offense going either.
Needless to say, there isn’t much time left in the season to figure out how to get things going for the Giants. If they want a chance to make a run at the playoffs, they are going to need to figure things out immediately and begin winning football games. Perhaps this is the type of comment that a leader needed to make to motivate the team to play with more energy and heart.
