The Georgia Bulldogs are trying to become one of

college football’

s elite programs and that all starts on the recruiting trail.

The Bulldogs are currently putting together a very nice class in 2015, headlined by 5-Star defensive tackle Trenton Thompson, 5-Star athlete Terry Godwin and a pair of 4-Star defensive ends, Jonathan Ledbetter and Natrez Patrick.

On Friday, they landed their fifth-highest rated commitment when 4-Star safety Rashad Roundtree gave his pledge to the Bulldogs.

Roundtree was down to the Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Duke Blue Devils, Michigan State Spartans and Ohio State Buckeyes but the Bulldogs were considered a pretty heavy favorite.

The 6’1, 195-pound Roundtree is a local product – he is from Evans, Georgia and attends Lakeside High School. He is ranked as the country’s sixth-best safety prospect, the 11th-best overall prospect from the state of Georgia and 94th-ranked overall recruit in the class of 2015 according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.

Roundtree last visited Athens to see the Bulldogs back on October 4 when the Bulldogs blew out the Vanderbilt Commodores 44-17.

Roundtree is Georgia’s 24th commitment in the class of 2015. Their class no ranks third nationally and second in the SEC. In what should come as no surprise, the Alabama Crimson Tide have the top-ranked class and the defending champion Florida State Seminoles‘ class is ranked second.

He live tweeted his commitment during a ceremony at his school.
