The final police report on the death of Rob Bironas has been released and it shows speed was very much a factor in his death.

When former NFL kicker Rob Bironas was killed in a single car accident earlier this year, many people were left wondering just how he came to crash his SUV. Initial reports suggested a fit of drunken road rage that caused him to lose control of his vehicle but nothing has been definitive.

Some closure may come from the final police report released on the incident, which highlighted speed as a factor in the fatal crash.

According to the final police report, Bironas was going well over the speed limit when he lost control of his SVU and crashed, killing himself in the process.

"The report issued Friday says data analysis shows Bironas was driving at 73 mph going into a curve when he lost control and crashed Sept. 20. Paramedics found Bironas dead at the scene.“The cause of the crash was Driver l’s failure to maintain the proper lane and exceeding the posted speed limit,” according to the report. “This case is now closed.”"

Bironas was also way above the legal drinking limit at the time of his crash, which in combination with the speed he was traveling, very much caused his crash.

It’s a tragic and sad situation that took a father and husband away from his family. Bironas was an All-Pro kicker with the Tennessee Titans in his career and established a life and family after football. His life was cut short though due to circumstances that very much could have been avoided.
