Auburn begins its final push toward a College Football Playoff spot as the third-ranked Tigers look to extend their 15-game home win streak against a Texas A&M Aggies team that is a far cry from where it was in September

Texas A&M Aggies vs. Auburn Tigers

Texas A&M Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin thinks his 82th ranked run defense has had issues. Just wait until Auburn Tigers quarterback Nick Marshall and its very high-powered ground attack gets its claws on them. Auburn has won 15 straight games at Jordan Hare Stadium, and sweet 16 is a strong reality if the Tigers’ ninth-ranked running assault gets in gear from the outset.

Keys to Victory

The Aggies must do what others have dared to try all season: stop Auburn’s running game. RB Cameron Artis-Payne leads the way with 974 yards and seven scores, while Marshall has 631 yards and nine touchdowns. Making the Aggies’ task more difficult is the fact that Marshall has completed 75 percent of his passes the last two weeks. Texas A&M’s offense must exceed the 243 yards it generated against Louisiana-Monroe last week. If not, Texas A&M’s second trip to the state of Alabama will go just as bad as the first.

Betting Odds

Point Spread: Auburn, -23.5

Moneyline: Texas A&M, +1102; Auburn, +1750

Prediction

Auburn’s last two games were decided by a combined 11 points. There won’t be a third, as Marshall is playing as well as any QB in the nation. Texas A&M won’t give up 59 like they did against Alabama, but don’t be shocked Auburn comes close.

Final Score: Auburn: 48, Texas A&M: 17
