There is a “sense” around the San Francisco 49ers that the offense could begin to get Frank Gore more involved.

The San Francisco 49ers are struggling as a team, despite having a defense in the Top-5 against both the run and the pass. That puts things squarely on the shoulders of the offense for not getting the job done and sliding to 4-4.
As of now, the 49ers pass offense is the 21st best in the NFL, averaging 226.1 yards per game. The ground game is doing considerably better, averaging 119.5 yards per game, a mark that is 10th best in the league.
Going forward in the second half of the season as the 49ers look to make a playoff push, the team could be feeding the ball to running back Frank Gore. According to an ESPN report, the “sense” around the team is that Gore will “suddenly” be remembered for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.
Gore of course recently proclaimed that the 49ers would make the playoffs, but the ESPN article is referring to the field and not the public spotlight.
It is an interesting statement because Gore hasn’t exactly been responsible for the team’s ground game the past several weeks. Over the last three games Gore is averaging less than three yards a carry this season, 2.74 to be exact, and just 13 carries a game. Gore also hasn’t scored a touchdown since the second week of the season.
They’ve also lost the last two games and might be noticing a correlation between the two.
