Actor and director Ben Affleck is a noted Boston Red Sox fan, but when asked about the retiring Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees, Affleck said he was glad the Red Sox wouldn’t play Jeter any more, but he has a lot of respect for the now-former MLB star.
Sick of Derek Jeter news yet? If not, the love for the New York Yankees’ now-retired shortstop and captain has spread to the entertainment industry, with Boston Red Sox fan Ben Affleck offering his compliments to the Red Sox’s former tormentor.

Affleck was at an event for his series Project Greenlight, and a reporter asked if the film star was glad Jeets was now retired.
“I like Derek Jeter a lot,” Affleck said. “I have a lot of respect for Derek Jeter. It’s nice that we’re not playing against him.”
Leaving aside the open door for a joke about the Red Sox signing Affleck to the team, some pretty bland quotes on Jeter’s greatness, at a time when a portion of the baseball community is pretty much over the Jeter love (at least until it’s time to induct him into the Hall of Fame). It’s unclear how much baseball Affleck has been able to watch lately, though, as he’s the latest actor to don the mask of Batman, and will star in the upcoming Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.
