Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose is listed as questionable for tonight’s game against the Boston Celtics, and it’s unclear if fans should expect Rose to play tonight.
Chicago Bulls fans must be used to this dance with Derrick Rose by now, right? Ankle sprains could keep Rose out of tonight’s game against the Boston Celtics, or they might not:
Bulls say Derrick Rose (both ankle sprains) is questionable tonight vs Boston while Jimmy Butler (thumb, shoulder strain) is probable.

The Bulls are rightfully being careful with their star, but Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau has kept Rose on the bench before when listed as probable, and played Rose before when he was listed as questionable. So maybe he’ll play tonight, maybe he won’t, who knows at this point?
The Bulls definitely need Rose back and playing for them at some point this season to truly be a title contender, but it’s hard to fault the team for being cautious in the early goings of the long NBA season, rather than potentially either burning out Rose, or worse, having him aggravate one of his previous injuries. Chicago can weather his absence for now, but eventually the Bulls offense will need Derrick Rose.
