Logan Mankins is not all that used to losing. Spending most of his career with the New England Patriots, Mankins was introduced to NFL success very early on.
However, earlier this year, Mankins was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and so far this season, he’s finding out what it’s like to lose–and lose a lot. Halfway through their season, the Buccaneers are 1-7, showing once again that they have a long way to go under the new regime led by Lovie Smith.
When asked recently by the Tampa Bay Times what it’s like to go through a season like this, Mankins put it in the nicest way possible that it more or less is hard.
“It’s a grind right now,’’ Mankins said. “We’re not where we want to be and the only way I know to get out of that is to keep working hard, keep fighting on Sunday. I was was raised to where you always fight to get back up. That’s what I’m trying to do.’’
Mankins has lost more games with the Buccaneers this year than he lost in nine years with the Patriots, so this year undoubtedly has to be taking its toll on the veteran.
The Buccaneers will look to maybe end these losing ways this Sunday when they take on the Atlanta Falcons, the same team that embarrassed them on Thursday night national television earlier this year.
