The New York Jets are looking to replace Rex Ryan this offseason, who is a dead man walking, and the list of head coaches who could be interested is already piling up.

Rex Ryan seems to be on his way out in New York as he has officially worn out his welcome following another losing season with the Jets. This is going to bring about some major change in the Big Apple starting with a new head coach. With Rex Ryan likely out at the end of the season, the list of coaches who could come in and replace him is starting to grow.

There will be the usual suspects mentioned, as Jon Gruden always gets mentioned along with Bill Cowher and Tony Dungy. But according to Rich Cimini from ESPN New York, if John Idzik survives the cut this offseason, then Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn could be a serious option.

"If he survives this mess, he will reach into his recent past for Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, a New Jersey native and a former Jets assistant. If Idzik gets the boot — a possibility — my sense is that owner Woody Johnson will go big-name hunting, looking for instant credibility. The usual suspects will come up, namely Jon Gruden and Bill Cowher. Jim Harbaugh will be on the radar, depending on how things shake out in San Francisco. A name to watch is Stanford coach David Shaw, an offensive-minded coach with NFL experience."

As has been pointed out, the Jets don’t have a history of hiring offensive minded head coaches, which would make Shaw an interesting hire if the Jets went in that direction. No matter what happens though, the search for a head coach is just getting started.
