Splitter re-injured his calf on Wednesday, was originally was hurt in the preseason, and missed the first two games of the NBA regular season as a result. It’s unknown how long the Spurs expect to be without the center.
Splitter, 29, is in his fifth season, all with San Antonio, but was actually a draft-and-stash player by the Spurs in the 2007 NBA Draft. The Brazilian helped the Spurs defeat the Miami Heat in last year’s NBA Finals, but he hasn’t seen the court very much since due to the injury to his calf.
Guard Marco Belinelli was also injured Wednesday, playing five minutes in the win against the Atlanta Hawks before hurting his right groin. Saturday will be his second straight game missed, as well.
The Spurs are expected to have stars Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili after both rested last night.
