Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims Expected To Play Sunday
By Phil Watson
Rookie running back Charles Sims has had to wait a couple of months, but his delayed NFL debut should happen Sunday with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Rookie running back Charles Sims has been out since surgery on his right ankle in August, but the third-round draft pick is expected to make his NFL debut for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.
With starter Doug Martin slowed by an ankle injury of his own, Sims’ return could be key for the Buccaneers against an Atlanta run defense that has allowed an NFL-worst 13 touchdowns.
"“The time is here now,” Sims told reporters Friday, via the Tampa Bay Times."
Sims is officially listed as questionable, but coach Lovie Smith said he expects Sims to go Sunday.
"“I’ve been excited about him since we drafted him,” Smith said. “If we have him up this week, I’ll be pretty excited to see exactly what he can do. Eventually he’s going to help us win a lot of games.”"
