Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu was bloodied up during an on-ice collision, but he gutted out a performance to win silver at the Cup of China.

If you didn’t think that it was possible to wear a sparkly onesie and still be a bad ass, you were wrong. Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan proved that during his gritty performance at the Cup of China.

Now, if you think it is weird to use bad ass, gritty and figure skating in the same story, stick with me here.

Yuzuru Hanyu was involved in an on-ice collision with China’s Han Yan during the free skate warm-up.

As a result of the collision, Hanyu was left a bloody mess. Honestly, it looked like something out of a horror film.

Yuzuru Hanyu went on to perform his routine with a gnarly bandage covering the gash on his head. Hanyu fell five times during the performance, but he still managed to come away with the silver.

Everything may not have gone as planned for the 19 year old, but he’s still a winner.

After all, Yuzuru Hanyu just became one of the toughest figure skaters of all-time.
