Charlie Strong Crowd Surfs After Upset Win Over West Virginia (Video)
By Josh Hill
The Texas Longhorns managed an upset win over the West Virginia Mountaineers, and their head coach Charlie Strong decided crowd surfing to celebrate was a solid idea.
When Charlie Strong was hired at Texas this past year, there wasn’t what you’d call a war, welcome there for him when he arrived. While more everyone was upset with the hire, there were plenty of folks who wanted someone else for the job and were miffed when Strong was the choice.

Strong picked up a signature win on Saturday though, when Texas beat West Virginia to likely knock the Mountaineers out of the Top 25. IT was a win that doesn’t help Texas get any closer to the Top 25 themselves, but it’s a win that helps Charlie Strong establish a presence in Texas.
After the win, the Texas head coach decided that crowd surfing was an appropriate means of celebrating the win — another solid choice on the afternoon.
Texas improved to 5-5 and are now fourth in the Big 12 this season. It’s not a year that many Longhorn fans are proud to see, as they don’t like to lose. But there is progress being made with Strong as head coach and this win over West Virginia was one he needed.
The crowd surfing is just a bonus and it shows that while the boosters may have been a less than sold on Charlie Strong, his students love him so far.
