First, the team fell to the New York Islanders in overtime; Friday night, they followed it up with a shootout loss to the Arizona Coyotes. The team, who are currently at the top of the league, simply haven’t been able to score.
Perry, who was originally sent home with Ryan Getzlaf Wednesday night with flu-like symptoms, has been confirmed as missing Sunday night’s game to the Vancouver Canucks. Getzlaf, conversely, was able to return to the lineup for Friday’s game against Arizona.
Despite missing the past two games, Perry still leads the league in goals scored (11)- a sure sign that the team is going to feel his absence. He was named one of the league’s three stars for the month of October based on his incredible scoring to open up the season; hopefully, he will be able to return to the lineup by Wednesday.
Perry isn’t alone in the league when it comes to catching something as the weather changes. The St. Louis Blues had some kind of mysterious illness (EBOLA, OBVIOUSLY), and Calgary‘s Johnny Gaudreau has been displaying flu-like symptoms as well.
The team has retroactively added Perry to IR, so he can still be reactivated as soon as he’s healthy again.
