After learning that he wouldn’t start, Florida DT Leon Orr got on a bus and headed back to Gainesville alone.

Coaches everywhere have tough decisions when it comes to their line ups. They’d love to play everyone, but at the most competitive levels of sports that just isn’t realistic. Florida Gators head coach Will Muschamp has been tinkering with the defensive line and that means some players not getting used in the fashion they want.
For instance, Muschamp moved junior Jonathan Bullard to the interior line from defensive end.
So a strange situation occurred in the Gators’ locker room before their game against Vanderbilt. Fifth-year Florida senior Leon Orr learned that he would not be starting, for the fifth straight game and then decided to leave the team, get on a bus and return to Gainesville alone.
From Florida’s official athletic website:
"After talking to head coach Will Muschamp, Orr opted to leave the team and return to Gainesville on a bus.“He was more concerned with starting than being part of the team,” Muschamp said."
That sounds like Muschamp isn’t exactly leaving the door open for him to return, and why should he. Throwing a temper tantrum and leaving the team isn’t the way go about getting your way.
It isn’t like Orr has been a consistent starter for the Gators and inexplicably got benched, in his career he has played in 37 games, just 10 of those were starts. He has only started two games this season to boot.
The oddities doesn’t stop there either. Florida posted this to their website, akin to a press release. That also seems to indicate the bridge has been burned. But how ridiculous is it to get so mad and take a bus. Considering it is about a 8.5 hour drive, that has to be a long bus drive. If you took the more direct Megabus, you’d have to make a change in Atlanta and it’d be about 11 hours of actual drive time.
The Greyhound bus would take even longer.
