In a game that is extremely important in terms of the

NFL

playoff picture for both teams, the 4-4

New Orleans Saints

and 4-4

San Francisco 49ers

battled in the Super Dome Sunday afternoon.

The 49ers were in control for most of the game. They took an early 14-0 lead on touchdown runs by both running back Frank Gore and Carlos Hyde. After the Saints cut the lead to four on a touchdown pass from Drew Brees to Brandin Cooks, Colin Kapernick hit Anquan Boldin to make it 21-10 at the half.

Later in the third quarter, Brees found Jimmy Graham for an 11-yard touchdown. Then, he found him again, this time from two yards out to put the Saints up 24-21 with 1:55 to go. The 49ers were able to tie things on a Phil Dawson field goal after a 51-yard pass from Kaepernick to Michael Crabtree.

The Saints had enough time to try to pull off a miracle and it looked like they did when Brees’ Hail Mary fell into the arms of Graham from 47 yards out. Graham, however, was called for pass interference for pushing off on what may been a flop by 49ers’ defensive back Perrish Cox. The penalty ended regulation and sent the game to overtime.
