This is why birds are the worst.

The Seattle Seahawks do this cool thing at the beginning of games where they release a hawk (not a “seahawk” because that’s not a real thing. It’s like the blue raspberry of birds. Doesn’t exist.) and the bird flies away with its wings and then everyone cheers.
You know, it looks way cooler on television than that sentence reads.
It’s one of those things that gets the 12th man in Seattle pumped up. The 12th man, as the Seahawks dub their fans, is famously loud and effective in making life difficult for visiting opponents.
This season, though, not so much. They have only lost one game at home this season, but teams are moving the ball against them in CenturyLink Field. The Dallas Cowboys beat them 30-23 at home and just last week the Raiders scored 24 points on them. The Raiders!
So the 12th man needs to be punished.
Release the hawk!

That’s what you get, 12th man, for not cheering loud enough. Or it was a complete accident that was also totally predictable as soon as the marketing guy who came up with throwing a hawk in the air in the middle of a packed stadium got his idea signed off on. We all knew this was going to happen at some point, right? Hawks are predators. And birds. Birds are dumb, and clearly the worst.
As far as I know, the guy is fine. Maybe a little traumatized by birds now, though.
