Stars forward Antoine Roussel made a massive hit on Sane Jose’s goalie, Alex Stalock, during the game Saturday night

The Dallas Stars are not, as a collective group, known for being the grittiest team in the NHL.

During Saturday night’s game against the San Jose Sharks, though, fans were reminded that the Stars have at least one player who sometimes crosses the line; when Sharks netminder Alex Stalock came out of his crease to play the puck, Stars forward Antoine Roussel knocked him flat.

Apparently, Sharks defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic wasn’t amused with the hit, as he immediately made a beeline for Roussel. Pandemonium ensued, and the game disintegrated into one giant scrum down by the Sharks’ net.

According to NBC’s Pro Hockey Talk, Roussel apparently took a cheap shot at San Jose skater Justin Braun, who was being held and was unable to hit back. During the post-game media interview, Sharks head coach Todd McLellan expressed his displeasure with that.

Roussel received a penalty for goalie interference and a game misconduct, although no word on whether the hit will receive further review.

The Stars ultimately fell 5-3 to the Sharks, losing their two-goal lead late in the game with a pair of goals by defenseman Brent Burns, a power play goal by Patrick Marleau, and an empty-netter by former captain Joe Thornton. The only Dallas player to score would be Tyler Seguin, who took home a hat trick.
