Ameer Abdullah, the nations no. 3 rusher with over 1,200 yards missed a week of practice after suffering an injury MCL sprain in the Cornhuskers win over Purdue, is expected to play against Wisconsin this week, according to reports,
“I anticipate him playing,” Pelini said.
“I’m not a doctor,” Pelini said Monday of Abdullah. “I don’t know how it’s going to play out.”
This could be and should be a big lift for the Cornhuskers. They are allowing under 100 yards per game, good enough for fifth in the country. The team also gained a season-low total in yards in the game against Purdue since they were missing Abdullah for the majority of the game. With Abdullah back, we should expect much bigger numbers.
It was also announced that this is now a rivalry game, one of many that seems to be forced upon teams now. They will be fighting for a trophy called the Freedom Trophy, which has a huge American flag in the middle of it.
The newly announced Freedom Battle is this Saturday at 3:30 ET, the Cornhuskers need the win to remain in the hunt for a Big 10 Western title.
