Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer said the gravity of his injury during a dream season has brought him to tears.

The Arizona Cardinals were having a dream season, and at 8-1 they had the best record in the NFL. Then tragedy struck when Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer tore his ACL and will be placed on season-ending injury reserve.

“I’m not going to lie, I cried like a baby last night. And I’m not an emotional guy,” Palmer said, via For The Win. “I don’t cry. The last time I cried like that was when I lost my friend and teammate Chris Henry back in ’09.”

Can you blame Palmer for feeling that way? He is a decorated college quarterback who never quite lived up to the lofty expectations placed on him during his NFL career. He’s had his lows and highs, but he had the Cardinals chasing the dream of a home-field Super Bowl. All that is in doubt now for Palmer as he faces his second major ACL surgery.

Of course the Chris Henry reference is to his tragic passing when the two were teammates with the Cincinnati Bengals. Interestingly enough, the first time he tore his ACL was after he jad jsut signed a $119 million deal with the Bengals in 2007, and on a pass that was a 66-yard completion to Henry.

Palmer just signed a $50 million three-year extension on Friday.
