More from Los Angeles Lakers

After a 27-55 season last year, the Los Angeles Lakers hoped to show great improvement in the 2014-2015 season.

With guard Kobe Bryant set to return from his knee injury, the Lakers raised their expectations. However, another future Hall-of-Fame guard, Steve Nash, would miss the entire season because of a back injury. The Lakers re-sign big man Jordan Hill and swingman Nick Young in the offseason but Young has yet to play. They also traded for point guard Jeremy Lin, won the amnesty claim on veteran big man Carlos Boozer and signed Ed Davis away from the Memphis Grizzlies. Although they did bring in Boozer, Davis probably saw a chance to play in Los Angeles after Pau Gasol signed with the Chicago Bulls.

The Lakers started as poorly as possible, losing their first five games. That prompted TNT analyst Charles Barkley to say that he would be going on a hunger strike until the Lakers finally won a game.

“I’m not going to eat again until the Lakers win a game,” Barkley said. “I’m telling you, I’m not gonna eat another meal until the Lakers win a game. … I’m going to be like I’m at Guantanamo Bay. I am not going to eat until the Lakers win a game. I’m going to drink water … [and] vodka. I’ve got to have my carbs and protein.”

On Sunday, the Lakers finally got their first win, topping the Charlotte Hornets 107-92.

After the game, Davis took to twitter to respond to Barkely.

Davis, who scored 10 points on a perfect five-of-five shooting and had five rebounds, probably sent his tweet in good fun. Lin did the same, but in a more subtle way.

The Lakers are likely just happy to finally have a win under their belt.

Well, not coach Byron Scott. He already knew it was happening.
