Philadelphia Flyers Luke Schenn will miss up to two weeks with shoulder injury
The Philadelphia Flyers were hoping to end their early season slump, but that doesn’t seem like it’s likely to happen any time soon.

The broad street bullies haven’t been nearly as physical this year; the one player who has been trying to throw himself around the most has been blue liner Brayden Schenn. The young star will be out for up to two weeks, though, as he suffered a shoulder injury during the team’s game against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night.
The injury was inflicted when 19-year-old forward Nathan MacKinnon pushed Schenn from behind when he was too close to the boards; the Flyers skater had to twist himself awkwardly and absorb the blow with his shoulder to avoid hitting his head, and subsequently injured himself significantly.
Schenn did not return to the game after the hit, which arguably helped the Avalanche in a close comeback that almost pushed the game to an overtime tie. What had been looking like a blowout in the Flyers’ favor ended with a 4-3 scoreboard.
The hit will not be penalized by the league further; MacKinnon was awarded a five-minute boarding major but the league will not hold a hearing for the hit.
