The Los Angeles Lakers finally got their first win, defeating the Charlotte Hornets 107-92 on Sunday night.
However, the Lakers are still just 1-5 and that has led to speculation that the Lakers could trade legendary guard Kobe Bryant. Of course, Bryant will me the one who makes that decision should it happen and he continues to his say he’s loyal to the Lakers. Still, it would make sense if the Lakers could get a big-time young prospect back for him – like Washington Wizards’ guard Bradley Beal.
“But as much as Lakers’ fans believe it’s about Kobe, Lakers’ management would have to jump at a chance for a young star to accelerate their rebuilding,” writes Sam Smith of Bulls.com. “Which is why Kobe to the Wizards may be the one. The Wizards have a young, potential star shooting guard in Bradley Beal. You can build with a player like him. Then you give the Lakers Nene and another player since the Wizards have plenty of guys they’re not much using to include in trade. For the Wizards, it’s the chance to take a shot, which they really don’t have now. With the addition of Paul Pierce, the Wizards are about now. Adding someone like Kobe with Pierce, John Wall and Marcin Gortat gives them a shot at the top of the weak East.”
The Wizards may not want to pair a player like Bryant with Wall. Although Beal is hurt at the moment, he has the potential to be an excellent player as point guard John Wall’s running mate for years to come. From a Lakers’ perspective, it would be very good move but it is clearly a long shot at best. Plus, trying to match salaries would be very difficult.
