Many teams tried to make a big move in the offseason and two of the biggest losers who struck out are the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets (although the Rockets could be in the process of changing that perception).

Both teams went after New York Knicks‘ forward Carmelo Anthony, landing meetings with talented scorer but ultimately he remained with the Knicks on a five-year deal. The Rockets turned their attention to Miami Heat center Chris Bosh but he re-signed with the Heat. The Lakers made a move for LeBron James but only ever talked to his agent before he joined the Cleveland Cavaliers. The also tried to convince big man Pau Gasol to remain with the team but he left to play for the Chicago Bulls, who he believes to be a legitimate title contender.

Both teams would like to make another big move and according to Chuck Myron of Hoop Rumors, they will be pursuing Phoenix Suns’ point guard Goran Dragic this offseason.

“Like Jefferson, Dragic is coming off a career year,” Myron explains. “The Rockets and Lakers have already been linked to the versatile guard who apparently plans to opt out. Still, the Suns have their sights set on keeping their talented Bledsoe-Dragic backcourt together, and Phoenix’s signing of Zoran Dragic this year was no insignificant hint.”

Although they did sign Dragic’s brother, Zoran, they also re-signed Bledsoe to a giant deal, acquired point guard Isaiah Thomas in a sign-and-trade and drafted Tyler Ennis in the first round of the 2014 NBA Draft, giving them three proven starter caliber point guards and another one who has the potential to do the same (Ennis).
