The Minnesota Vikings may or may not want Adrian Peterson back — depending on who you listen to — but the team has released a statement to try and clear the air a bit.
When Adrian Peterson settled his legal matters in Texas earlier this month, there were many who believed that meant a return to the field in the near future. The NFL had other plans though and are pumping the brakes on reinstating Peterson before first fully knowing the details of his actions.

Peterson escaped serious legal ramifications from his child abuse case but the league may not be satisfied with that outcome. In the wake of the mishandling of the Ray Rice case, the NFL is taking their due diligence in reaching a resolution for Peterson and the team seems to be honoring that chain of command.
According to the Vikings, Peterson’s status with the team is based on whatever the NFL decides in terms of a suspension or reinstatement.
"In regards to Adrian Peterson’s status with the Minnesota Vikings, at this time his potential reinstatement is under NFL guidelines. As an organization, we respect and understand the league’s process. In the interim, our focus is on the team and preparing for this weekend’s game against the Bears."
Peterson walked away with community service and a $4,000 fine in Texas after he reached a plea deal in the case regarding child abuse claims that were brought against him. Peterson beating his child has become a political issues of sorts, with blind fans wanting to only see Peterson back on the field and overzealous analysts settling too comfortably into the child abuse angle of the case.
It’s an ugly ordeal to say the least, and it’s one that has brought out the ugly side in a lot of people across sports and politics.
