Winners: Cleveland Browns

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you the AFC North division leading Cleveland Browns.

As we all predicted.

To be honest, we knew the talent was there defensively, as well as on the offensive line. And we knew the North was weaker than it appeared on the surface. For myself, this is why Cleveland’s decision to ignore the wide receiver position during the draft when Josh Gordon was suspended baffled me.

The division was there for the taking and Cleveland had the talent. Why ignore the one need you’ll have?

Instead, after a rough start the Browns have won five out of their last six games and overcome a key injury to center Alex Mack on the offensive line.

I remain skeptical of Brian Hoyer – I saw nothing exceptional in his play Thursday night – but he does enough to keep them in games and doesn’t tend to make big mistakes. He should be enough to get them to the playoffs.

From there, I suspect it will be harder to rely on him.

That’s getting ahead of ourselves though. For now, the Browns are at the top of the division, something many fans are more than happy with right now.
