Losers: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

It’s not that they lost. For one thing, they’ve been doing that all year. It’s not even that they lost at home, for that same reason. No, it’s just about how bad they look on both sides of the ball despite the talent on the team.

Most baffling is the defense, which Lovie Smith was known for during his tenure in Chicago. We suspected that his Tampa offense might look weak (it all depended on Jeff Tedford, who is on indefinite leave, as reported by TampaBay.com’s Rick Stroud).

The defense, with all the talent on that side of the ball, is an unexpected disappointment.

A defense which could only sack Matt Ryan, behind a makeshift offensive line, once.

This is a bad team, but more to the point it’s a disappointing one. The Buccaneers’ fans deserve better.

How they get it is hard to figure out this year.
