The NFLPA has filed a grievance to get Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson reinstated from the commissioner’s exempt list
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson pleased no contest to put an end to his legal troubles stemming from his hitting his four-year-old son with a switch that caused bodily harm, but the NFL still has no timeframe when Peterson will be able to return to the field for the Vikings.

With the NFL not having a plan to handle Peterson’s case, the player’s association has filed a grievance on his behalf to get him off the commissioner’s exempt list where he has been since the second game of the season while receiving his salary, in the hopes of him being eligible to return as early as this weekend.
Here is the statement from the NFLPA, via Pro Football Talk:
"“The NFLPA has filed an expedited, non-injury grievance to remove Adrian Peterson from the Commissioner’s Exempt list based on explicit language in a signed agreement dated September 18, 2014,” the statement says. “We asked the NFL to honor the terms of that agreement last week and as of now, they have failed to respond or comply. It is our obligation to protect all players’ rights, and we will pursue any and all breaches of any contract between a player and his team or the NFL.”"
Peterson’s status is in limbo while his legal matters are now in the past and yet the NFL looks incompetent once again with the handling of a legal matter involving one of the most high-profile players in the league by not having a plan of action when his case was resolved.
According to Albert Breer of the NFL Network, “the expedited hearing on the Peterson grievance must be within 7 days. Peterson won’t file for temporary restraining order yet, so there’s a shot Peterson’s grievance will be heard before the Vikings’ game vs. Bears. Will definitely be heard before the Nov. 23 game vs Packers.
Peterson has not played since Week 1 but his teammates are on record as wanting to have him back as soon as the NFL decides what they’re going to do, because a suspension could be handed down for violating the league’s personal conduct policy which could put his status for the remainder of the season in jeopardy.
