The fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers are certain they know why their team played so poorly in a loss to the lowly New York Jets Sunday—Justin Bieber.

In one of the more shocking outcomes of the 2014 NFL season, the New York Jets beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-13 on Sunday.

The Jets—losers of eight straight—forced four turnovers and held Ben Roethlisberger, he of the 12 touchdown passes in two games, to one scoring toss.

Of course, all of that makes sense when you consider the Jets had forced three turnovers in nine games coming into the game.

Wait, what?

But fans of the Steelers are certain they know who to blame for the loss.

It seems Justin Bieber—yes, the annoying pop singer turned “guy who just shows up everywhere for no apparent reason”—showed up Saturday night for a Bible study session that several players from the Steelers were attending.

He posed for some photos with some of the players and the next day, the Steelers lost.

It didn’t take long for fans to make the connection.

So #BlameBieber became a thing.

It makes about as much sense as the Jets beating the Steelers by suddenly morphing into the 1985 Bears on defense.
