New Orleans Saints‘ cornerback Keenan Lewis played through a nasty knee injury against the San Francisco 49ers in yesterday’s NFL action.
The New Orleans Saints were unable to pull out a big win against the San Francisco 49ers this week, and one of their top defensive players was injured during the game as well. Keenan Lewis went down with a knee injury and was barely able to come off the field right after the injury occurred. After some time on the sidelines, Lewis returned to the game and played through the injury.

It’s always good to see players fight and battle through injury troubles, but this is one that not many players could have played through. While every knee injury is a concern and painful, Lewis had to battle against major swelling in his knee as well. He suffered an injury that is called traumatic bursitis, and it’s not something that is easy to shake off after seeing it.
Take a look at a picture of Lewis’ knee today:

Needless to say, it’s impressive that he put his helmet back on and went back into the game with his knee having that type of an issue. It likely wasn’t as swollen as it is now, but it was obvious that it didn’t look right immediately after it happened. Lewis had to tough out quite a bit of pain to get back out there and help his team, and fans have to give it up for that type of effort.
